DREAM HOUSE, 2018

Four channel video installation, custom teleprompters.

For one week in the spring of 1969 the artist’s mother was a contestant on the new ABC game show Dream House, the first game show to boast an entire house as grand-prize. Dream House was canceled after two seasons when an article in TV Guide revealed that none of the houses won on the show had ever been built and many of the winners had gone into debt to buy land for their homes. The video installation, Dream House, which borrows its name from the short-lived game show, is the artist’s search to locate her mother after her death, amongst television ephemera and the incomplete archive. It is an exploration of erasure, futility and desire, where personal loss sounds against and in chorus with collective loss and shared memory.
